Birth control online
Start or renew birth control with a private online visit and pick it up at your pharmacy – no clinic appointment needed.
How an online birth control visit works
A licensed provider asks about your health, blood pressure, any migraines, smoking and the medicines you take, then talks through the options that are safe for you. The prescription goes to the pharmacy you choose.
Options that can be prescribed online
- The pill (combined or progestin-only)
- The patch
- The vaginal ring
IUDs, implants and the shot are placed or given in a clinic; your provider can tell you more.
When to get help straight away
Severe leg pain or swelling, chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, a severe headache or vision changes while on hormonal birth control can be signs of a blood clot – call 911. A virtual visit is not an emergency service. For chest pain, trouble breathing, severe bleeding, signs of a stroke or a serious injury, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) at any time.
Questions about birth control online
Can I get birth control online at CheckMD today?
We are adding it with a specialist care partner, so availability is still limited. Send us a message before you sign up and we will tell you what is possible for you.
Do I need a blood pressure reading?
For pills, patches and rings with estrogen, yes – a recent reading from home or a pharmacy is fine.
Can I get emergency contraception?
Levonorgestrel (Plan B and similar) is sold without a prescription at pharmacies. Ask a pharmacist.
