Terms of use
The rules for using CheckMD. Please read them – by using the website or a membership you agree to them.
Not for emergencies
CheckMD is not an emergency service. If you think you have a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. In a mental health crisis, call or text 988.
Your care
Visits are with independent licensed providers who use their own professional judgment. They may decide that a virtual visit isn't right for your problem and refer you to in-person care. A visit doesn't guarantee a diagnosis, a prescription or a particular treatment. Some medicines, including controlled substances, can't be prescribed online.
Providers can only treat you in a state where they are licensed, so tell us truthfully where you are at the time of each visit.
Your account
- You must be 18 or older to open an account; parents or guardians manage children on a family plan
- Give true, complete information, including your health history
- Keep your password private; you are responsible for activity on your account
- Tell us straight away if you think someone else used your account
Memberships and payment
The price, what is included, renewal and cancellation terms are shown before you buy and in your account. Lab tests, medicines and in-person care are paid separately unless your plan says otherwise. Plans paid for by an employer or group follow that group's agreement with us.
Using the site fairly
- Don't misuse the service, try to break in, copy it or use it for anyone else's care without permission
- Don't abuse or threaten our providers or staff – we may end the account if you do
- The CheckMD name, logo and website content belong to CheckMD
Disclaimers and limits
The general health information on this website is not a substitute for a visit with a provider. To the extent the law allows, the website is provided "as is", and CheckMD is not liable for indirect or consequential losses. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.
